Jay to feature in BOB's Nothing On You for Korean Duet Single.

재범, B.O.B와 듀엣 싱글로 국내 첫 활동

15일 발표될 '낫신 온 유'에 보컬 피처링

(서울=연합뉴스) 이은정 기자 = 인기그룹 2PM에서 탈퇴한 재범(본명 박재범ㆍ23)이 미국 신예 팝스타 B.O.B(본명 바비 레이ㆍ22)와의 듀엣 싱글로 국내에 복귀한다.

15일 워너뮤직코리아에 따르면 재범은 래퍼인 B.O.B가 지난 3월 발매해 빌보드 싱글차트 '핫 100' 1위를 기록한 히트곡 '낫신 온 유(Nothin' On You)'의 커버 버전(히트곡을 재녹음하는 것)에서 보컬 피처링을 맡았다.

당초 원곡에서는 B.O.B가 랩, 신예 브루노 마스가 보컬을 맡았으나 15일 디지털 싱글로 국내 발매된 커버 버전은 B.O.B의 랩에 재범이 보컬 부분을 노래한 것이다.

이로써 재범은 지난해 9월 한국인을 비하한 글이 논란이 되며 고향인 시애틀로 떠난 지 9개월, 지난 2월 JYP엔터테인먼트가 탈퇴를 발표한 지 4개월 만에 신곡으로 첫 공식 활동에 나서게 됐다.

재범의 참여는 B.O.B의 음반 유통사인 미국 워너뮤직의 아시아 본사 사우스이스트아시아(SEA)의 제안으로 이뤄졌다는 게 워너뮤직코리아의 설명이다.

재범은 지난 3월 자신의 유튜브 채널(www.youtube.com/jayparkaom)을 통해 이 곡을 부른 동영상을 올려 460만여 건의 조회수를 기록했고 이 동영상을 본 워너뮤직 SEA가 재범에 주목했다. 국내에서는 이 동영상 덕택에 B.O.B의 인지도가 올라가 '낫신 온 유'의 음원 판매량이 증가하기도 했다.

워너뮤직 SEA 측은 "동영상으로 재범의 무한한 가능성과 열정을 확인했다"며 "재범의 다재다능함과 넓은 팬층은 그가 글로벌 아티스트로 성장하기에 더 없이 좋은 요인이 될 것"이라고 전했다.

더불어 재범은 해외 활동 대리권을 계약한 DMW(Digital Media Wire)사의 CEO겸 연예전문 변호사인 네드 셔먼과 함께 다양한 계획을 추진하고 있는 것으로 알려졌다.

한 연예 관계자는 "재범에게 가을 국내 팬미팅, 드라마 출연 등 다양한 제안이 들어가 논의중인 것으로 안다"며 "그러나 재범이 국내 매니지먼트사와 따로 계약할 생각은 없어보인다"고 말했다.

이 같은 재범의 행보가 팬들에게는 반가운 소식이지만 일부 가요 관계자들은 우려의 시선을 보내고 있다.

In the original track, BOB raps and Bruno Mass sings the vocals. However, in the digital single set to be released in Korea, Jaebum will be singing the vocal part along with BOB's rap. 

Warner Music Korea explained that Jaebum's featuring was made possible by music distribution company, Warner Music America's Asian counterpart, SEA. 

Jaebum earned 4.6 million hits on his cover uploaded on his personal youtube channel and Warner Music SEA took notice. BOB's song actually earned greater fame within the country and helped increase the sales.

Warner Music SEA stated, "Through the video, we were able to confirm his many talents and passions. He's got a lot of different skills with a large fanbase. He'll grow to be a global artist."

A celebrity associate stated, "Jaebum's received a lot of offers for fan meetings and drama appearances but they are still in discussion. Jaebum, however, does not seem interested in signing on to a separate contract with a Korean management."

재범이 피처링으로 참여한 B.o.B의 'Nothin’ On You'가 6월 15일 공개된다. 'Nothin’ On You B.o.B feat. Jay Park' 버전에서 B.o.B는 랩을, 재범은 보컬 파트를 맡았다. 한국에 먼저 발매된 재범의 피처링 버전 'Nothin’ On You'는 추후 전세계로 발매될 계획이다.
